These are the rules every page on this site must follow. They are published so you can hold us to them: a page that breaks one of these rules is wrong, and we treat it as an error to be corrected on the record.
The policy in brief
- Every fact that can change — a price, a model name, a free-tier limit, a licensing term — carries the date it was verified, next to the fact itself.
- Claims are verified against official documentation, never hearsay and never memory.
- Vendor claims and our editorial judgment are kept separate and labeled.
- Every recommendation includes meaningful disadvantages and who should not choose the product.
- No fabricated testing, scores, ratings, or quotes. Ever.
- Research and drafting are AI-assisted; nothing is published without the verification above.
Every changing fact is dated and sourced in place
AI voice generator pricing, model names, free tiers, quotas, and license terms change often. Every such fact on this site carries the date it was checked against its source — in the same sentence, the same table row, or a labeled metadata block beside it, not buried at the bottom of the page. A changing fact published here without a date beside it is a policy violation: if you find one, it falls under the corrections policy and we will fix it.
Official documentation beats hearsay
Facts are verified against the provider's own current materials — pricing pages, product documentation, API references, terms of service — at the time of writing. Secondary sources such as press coverage or third-party reviews are used only when official documentation does not answer the question, and they are attributed when used. Nothing is asserted from memory, from an old draft, or from someone else's roundup. Licensing and commercial-use statements in particular are taken from the provider's current terms, and rights stated for one plan are never assumed to apply to another.
Vendor claims are not findings
When a page repeats what a vendor says about its own product, the claim is attributed to the vendor and worded as the vendor's claim. When a page states our judgment, it is worded as judgment. The two are never blended, and a vendor's marketing line is never presented in the voice of an independent finding.
Meaningful disadvantages are always included
No product is right for everyone. Every recommendation on this site includes real drawbacks and the scenarios where the product is a poor choice — who should skip it, not just who should buy it. A page that only praises is not compliant with this policy.
No fabricated testing, ratings, or quotes — ever
This site does not publish invented listening impressions, made-up benchmark results, fake user ratings, or quotes nobody said. It currently publishes no user ratings at all, because it has not collected any. If editorial scores appear in the future, they will be labeled as editorial scores backed by recorded measurements, and never presented as user ratings.
Where our testing stands today
A standardized audio benchmark for this site is designed and documented on the methodology page: the same short prompts sent to every provider under the same conditions, with stored samples and published generation costs. As of August 11, 2026, that system is not yet running.
Until it runs, no page on this site claims first-hand testing of any kind. Every claim is instead verified against official vendor documentation, with the verification date stated on the page. When the benchmark does run, its results will be published together with the stored evidence behind them.
How AI is used
Research and drafting on this site are AI-assisted. In practice that means: AI helps gather, structure, and draft; every fact that reaches a published page is verified against official sources, with the verification date recorded; and no testing claim appears without a real, stored test artifact behind it. AI assistance never lowers the evidence bar — a claim that cannot be verified is not published.
Independence
No payment, commission, or free vendor credit changes a ranking, a score, or a verdict on this site. How the site is funded, and its current monetization status, is stated plainly at how we make money; who runs the site and how it operates is described on the about page.
When we get it wrong
Errors are fixed on the page and recorded, not quietly overwritten. The corrections policy explains what counts as a correction, how corrections are logged, and how to report an error.
